Custom Blanket Design

Custom Blanket Design Process

At Cuttinup Show Blankets, we know firsthand how exciting — and frustrating — the custom design process can be.

Colors can arrive wrong. Patterns can feel different than what you envisioned. Proportions, sizing, and overall flow can miss the mark once woven. After years in the industry, we built our custom department specifically to eliminate those frustrations and give customers a truly personalized experience from start to finish.

The Process

1

Purchase Your Custom Design Package

To begin the process, customers purchase a $199 Custom Design Package.

This design fee covers the one-on-one consultation process, custom rendering development, calibrated color matching, physical color approval preparation, and overall creation of your personalized blanket design.

The $199 design fee is non-refundable once the design process has begun.

2

One-on-One Design Consultation

Once your order is processed, you’ll work directly with our designer to discuss your ideas, inspirations, colors, patterns, and overall vision.

During this process, we focus heavily on:

  • Color matching
  • Pattern balance and flow
  • Blanket proportions and dimensions
  • Overall visual appearance
  • Your preferred size and style

Our goal is to create a blanket that visually represents exactly what you have in mind before it ever reaches production.

3

Design & Color Approval Process

After the consultation, our designer creates a custom design proof of your blanket.

Customers will receive a visual rendering of the layout, proportions, and pattern design, along with a physical printed color approval sheet representing the exact colors selected for production.

Unlike many custom processes that rely solely on screen images, Cuttinup Show Blankets utilizes a calibrated wool color matching system to ensure production colors are matched as accurately as possible to the approved design palette.

The customer’s signed color approval becomes the official production reference for the blanket.

4

Design Revisions & Approval

Customers are welcome to make revisions and adjustments throughout the design process.

We understand that creativity evolves, and sometimes seeing the design visually sparks new ideas or changes. Our goal is to help refine the blanket until it feels right to you.

However, once the customer gives final approval and the blanket moves into production, the design is considered locked and changes are then closed.

Timeline Expectations

Custom blanket creation is a detailed and collaborative process, and timelines can vary greatly depending on the complexity of the design and the number of revisions requested throughout the design phase.

On average, the design process itself may take approximately one month to finalize. However, additional revisions and changes requested by the customer may extend that timeline.

Once the design has been fully approved and submitted into production, manufacturing timelines can vary depending on current production demand, material scheduling, loom availability, and overall production queue volume.

At Cuttinup Show Blankets, new pattern production and custom blanket orders are prioritized within our manufacturing process whenever possible. However, because every blanket is individually woven and produced, custom creations are not considered a rush process.

Production timelines may range from approximately two to three months or longer during high-demand production periods. Our priority is accuracy, quality, and creating a finished product that truly reflects the approved design vision.

5

Production

After approval, your blanket is placed into production.

The remaining balance for the selected blanket weave is due once production is completed and the blanket is ready to ship.

Custom blankets are currently offered exclusively in our Vaquera and Authentic weaves.

Our Quality Commitment

Because custom blankets are created specifically for each customer, accuracy matters to us.

If a completed blanket does not properly match the approved design rendering and signed color approval, we do not ship it. Instead, it is automatically sent back into production to be corrected.

We believe custom should actually feel custom — and that means taking the extra steps necessary to ensure the finished product reflects the vision you approved.

Design Ownership & Future Production

At the completion of the custom design process, customers have the option to allow Cuttinup Show Blankets to potentially add their design into the official Cuttinup pattern lineup.

If selected for future production, the pattern may be named in honor of a horsewoman chosen by the customer. Naming traditions at Cuttinup Show Blankets are reserved specifically for honoring horsewomen who have made an impact on our lives, industry, families, friendships, and western heritage.

Customers may also choose to keep their design exclusive and exclude the pattern from any future Cuttinup Show Blankets production lineup.

Please note that inclusion into the Cuttinup lineup is completely optional for the customer and, if approved by the customer, is still subject to final selection and discretion by Cuttinup Show Blankets.
